Kenneth W. Kambis, Ph.D. is a Director
and President of the Foundation.

Dr. Kambis' duties are to serve as Director, President, and Program Director of the Foundation and thereby oversee, govern and carry out the purposes and activities of the Foundation. He will also conduct and supervise research on behalf of the Foundation.

Dr. Kambis is Professor of Kinesiology, Department Chair (July 1, 2008) and Director of the Jack Borgenicht Altitude Physiology Research Facility at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. Dr. Kambis is a recognized expert in the field of altitude physiology and works closely with the U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM) Thermal and Mountain Medicine Division in Natick, MA. As Director of the Jack Borgenicht Altitude Physiology Research Facility, he works extensively with undergraduate students interested in environmental physiology research. Dr. Kambis received his masters and doctorate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his bachelor's degree from Catawba College. Prior to coming to William and Mary, he held faculty positions at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was also co-director of the Fatigue Lab and at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he co-directed the Wellness and Fitness Institute as well as worked with Dr. Steven M. Horvath in the Environmental Stress Institute.



R. Wayne Kernodle, Ph.D. is a Director of the Foundation.

Dr. Kernodle's duties are to serve as a Director and thereby oversee, govern and carry out the purposes and activities of the Foundation.

R. Wayne Kernodle earned his Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1945 he began his career in higher education with a faculty appointment at The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia where he remained until his retirement after almost 50 years of service. Dr. Kernodle served as chair of the College's Department of Sociology for many years where he gained a national reputation for his work with older adults, particularly in the area of subjective questionnaire assessment standards. Dr. Kernodle went on to found the Department of Anthropology at The College of William and Mary as well as the Christopher Wren Association, a lifelong learning organization providing hundreds of community elders with college-level instruction in topical areas of interest. Dr. Kernodle has an extensive background in aging studies and health assessment in older adults as well as a commitment to foster continuing education experiences for elders.



Bart Sobel, Ed.D. is a Director, Secretary/Treasurer,
and member of the Advisory Board of the Foundation.

Dr. Sobel's duties are to serve as a Director and Secretary/Treasurer of the Foundation, as well as Chair of the Advisory Board. He will thereby oversee, govern and carry out the purposes and activities of the Foundation.

Dr. Sobel received his doctorate from Boston University in educational philosophy. After teaching at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Bart Sobel took over managing directorship of his family sports camp in New England. Over the years, Dr. Sobel has become very well known on an international level for his writings and presentations regarding liability issues when working with people in organized programs. His background in philosophy is an excellent balance to the more empirical science orientation of the Foundation for Aging Studies and Exercise Science Research and his knowledge of liability issues will be of invaluable service in developing programs which may be funded by the Foundation.



James A. Bill, Ph.D. is a Director
and member of the Advisory Board of the Foundation.

Dr. Bill's duties are are to serve as a Director and thereby oversee, govern and carry out the purposes and activities of the Foundation.

Dr. Bill is professor emeritus of The College of William and Mary. He earned one of his two M.A. degrees and his Ph.D. from Princeton University. Dr. Bill has published numerous articles and nine books. His area of expertise is in International Studies and he is acknowledged as one of the leading experts in United States in the area of Middle East politics. Dr. Bill is the founding Director of the Wendy and Emery Reves Center for International Studies at The College of William and Mary. As a member of the Foundation for Aging Studies and Exercise Science Research Board of Directors, Dr. Bill provides a clear and concise understanding of how the Foundation should work in a global society. His international stature as a scholar and administrator brings honor and prestige to the Foundation. His skill in working with undergraduate students from around the world will help the Foundation foster international connections that will prove beneficial to the mission of the Foundation.



John M. Charles, Ed.D. is a Director of the Foundation

Dr. Charles' duties are to serve as a Director and thereby oversee, govern and carry out the purposes and activities of the Foundation.

Dr. Charles received his doctoral degree from The University of Oregon and taught at Wellesley College before coming to The College of William and Mary where he is Professor of Kinesiology and Director of Advising. He earned his masters degree from Henderson College and his undergraduate degree from Westminster College, Oxford. Dr. Charles has written two books in Kinesiology and is well known for his publications regarding ethics in health and sport. Dr. Charles is a skilled administrator and a highly regarded scholar. His strength on behalf of the Foundation lay in his clear understanding of situational ethics and medical ethics. Additionally, Dr. Charles is in a position to track undergraduates at The College of William and Mary toward the Foundation if they indicate an interest in conducting research in our focus areas.



Glenn DuBois, Ph.D. Chancellor, Virginia Community College System
is a Director of the Foundation

Dr. DuBois' duties are to serve as a Director and thereby oversee, govern and carry out the purposes and activities of the Foundation.

Glenn DuBois became Chancellor of the Virginia Community College System in July 2001 after a nationwide search led to his selection by the State Board for Community Colleges. In that position he acts as chief executive officer of a 23-college, 40-campus system of community colleges located throughout Virginia. He had previously held the position of Commissioner and CEO of the New Hampshire Community Technical College System, and was Director of Community Colleges for the State University of New York, one of the nation's largest networks of community colleges. Considered an expert on the dynamics of community college teaching, Dr. DuBois received his doctorate in higher education administration, research and policy from the University of Massachusetts. He holds a master's degree in juvenile justice and criminology from Eastern Kentucky University, a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Florida Atlantic University and an associate of science degree in police science from the State University of New York in Farmingdale. His expertise in higher education and administration is a great asset to the Mission of the Foundation.
